This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming four Italian vocational teachers to Mercuria, who came to learn about the Finnish education system. Our visitors are special education teachers, physical education teachers, and vocational teachers in their home country, and they were attending various lessons at Mercuria. They are also planning to visit other vocational secondary schools in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
We have been impressed by your school facilities!
They were particularly impressed by the small number of teachers compared to students. Although our class sizes are larger than in Italy, we are still able to maintain a good working atmosphere. Additionally, Mercuria’s facilities sparked a lot of discussions: our nicely furnished classrooms, clean restaurant, and lobby areas were greatly admired by our guests. They also had the opportunity to exchange ideas on pedagogy and working methods with our special education teacher, Marisa Köngäs. While there was much in common, there were also many aspects that gave our guests a lot to think about regarding their own institutions.
Today, the Italian visitors also got to taste traditional Finnish food, namely macaroni casserole. Apparently, pasta in this form was new to them, but the fresh bread baked by our restaurant was a hit! Thank you for the visit, and hopefully, our cooperation will continue in the future.
